If you haven’t done the Thinking Tools course yet, you can still use the Thinking Maps (Bridge Map, Flow Mao and Multi Flow Map) to do division.

Firstly, we start with smaller numbers and simple flow maps, as well as inverse operations.

The same problems are then repeated nut in different ways. It is also done with different Thinking Maps.

When learners are confident with the methods, we move on to larger numbers, ending with division of 3-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers. This is done with Bridge Maps.

Long division is a “recipe”. Therefore, we first give learners a chance to really understand the work by using other methods.  After this they can be shown how to do long division.
